Climate Action Groups
The Climate Outreach Information Network developed the climate action group approach through successful pilot work in Oxford. They are now working to support wider roll out in other parts of the country.
Sheffield Climate Action Groups is a local partnership, which has been set up to work with COIN to promote and support the development of climate action groups in Sheffield. A six month pilot phase will run from October to April, during which a number of groups will be created and supported in their efforts.
The project will kick off with a match-maker meeting on the 6th November. The meeting is an opportunity to share thoughts about climate change and to generate ideas for action. We will form small groups working on similar areas of interest and plan how to take things forward. The groups will work independently for six months. A follow up meeting will help groups review their progress and consider any next steps.
The project is supported by a steering group comprising Sue Pearson (BTCV), Jenny Patient (SCACC), Heather Hunt (SCACC), Rachel Wileman (Sheffield City Council), Alison Stenton (individual), Ian Stenton (individual). The work is driven and coordinated by Rob Pilling, a local environmentalist.
The work has been made possible by a grant from APE (Artists’ Project Earth), the climate change awareness and disaster relief charity.
